Executive Director

Rev. David Gerth

Rev. David Gerth has been the executive director of MCU since 2011. He is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. Before coming to MCU, he pastored churches in Indiana and Illinois. He is a member of St. John’s Church–the Beloved Community.

Rev. Susan Sneed

Susan began as a leader with the organization when it was founded in the 1990’s. Since then, she has transitioned to a full-time organizer. She is a ordained Deacon of the United Methodist Church.

Sister Gail Guelker

Sister Gail (School Sisters of Notre Dame) organized for Churches United for Community Action from 1992 to 1998. When three local organizations became MCU, she continued organizing, mainly in north and south county until 2007. Following her tenure as president of Notre Dame High School (2008-2015), Gail has returned to MCU, organizing part-time in St. Charles County. The words from Micah 6 continue to call her forth–“what does God require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”

Rev. Michael Atty

Rev. Atty graduated in May 2016 with his Master of Divinity from Eden Seminary. He is an ordained Baptist minister. He joined the staff team in June of 2016. He is working in partnership with Sister Gail in St. Charles County.

Rev. Dr. Dietra Wise Baker

Rev. Dietra currently serves a a part-time organizer for the Break the Pipeline Campaign.  She co-led MCU’s Clergy Caucus during the wake of Ferguson until joining the staff as an organizer.  Since July 2005, she has served as a full-time chaplain to incarcerated youth of St. Louis, and convened the Juvenile Justice Task Force.  She has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Howard University, a Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate in Preaching from Aquinas Institute of Theology.

Will joined the staff in 2011. He is the organization behind the organizers, ensuring that systems and processes flow well and supporting the work of MCU.
